Last night at 10.08pm, police received the first call about an incident on London Bridge. And 8 minutes later the suspects were dead. Few of us can begin to imagine the bravery of the officers who responded, putting themselves between the public and the knife-wielding terrorists who appeared to be wearing suicide vests, and running towards something everyone else was running from.
But we can all imagine how many more people might have been killed or injured if those 8 minutes had been any longer.
Many of us know someone in the police - and know they have partners and children waiting for them at home each time they go on duty.
So tonight's Prosecco Sunday isn't about how many muffins I baked and sold this weekend. Instead, here's to the police - cheers, and thank you.
